About
The Beginning...
Updated August 31, 2022
The history of the band dates back when four friends had the idea of starting a band in 2012 with the name of Cazador. Since then, numerous lineup changes had happened before the current lineup would be solidified and be recognized as the band Opium Death. Relocating within the Chicago suburbs, from Woodridge to Westmont area, the band would soon see progress as original material and performing shows have become the band's workload. Irvin, original member of the band, shares guitar duties with Will as the two switch off between lead and rhythm. Don is the vocalist for the group as well as handling the bass role. And finally, Dennis keeps the flow of the music behind the drum kit as the band incorporates styles of thrash and death metal as its foundation.
After independently releasing the first album, the band has pursued to play gigs at local venues like Penny Road Pub in Barrington, The Wire in Berwyn, Sugar Skull in Franklin Park, and Reggie's in Chicago. Since then, the band has started to write new material for the second album due in 2022 yet released a 3 track demo teasing the new tracks that will then be finalized on the new record.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, guitarist Will Burchfield leaves the band in the summer of 2022 and the band is on the lookout for a guitarist position as the record is coming to a close and shows are being announced for the summer.
After some time looking for someone to fill in the spot, Luis Torres joins the band in August completing the lineup once again bringing forth new talent from the local scene to the public.
